Time flies when you're having fun!

What can I say? I'm having some serious fun! It's been a whirlwind four months since my last post and I've had my fair share of challenges and frustrations, but mostly it's been amazing to watch God put everything together. I'm excited to see how he continues to grow this ministry for His glory!
In September, Jesse and I traveled to Guatemala for 8 days. I always feel very anxious before these trips - the opposition and warfare is strong. But we press on knowing God goes before us and behind us. This trip was no different. I put together a loose itinerary and trusted God to do the rest. I'm happy to report it was nothing short of wonderful!
One highlight of the week was attending church at Casa de Bendicion located in Guatemala City / Mixco zona 11. It's not technically on the map, but the grocery store across the street is so that is where we asked the Uber driver to drop us off. I'm certain the driver was thinking what crazy gringos we must be to drive 30 minutes across town to a grocery store! We were relieved to locate the church right away and the next two hours were some of the best of 2019. We knew one person, Julio, a friend of a friend who we met two years ago. Turns out he was the worship leader and, wow, was he anointed! The pastor preached a riveting sermon called "God Redeems the Time" which I could not fully understand, yet my spirit was deeply ministered to! There was sweet fellowship afterwards. I've never felt so blessed and loved and filled up!
The rest of the week was us pouring out as we ministered to kids, families, and widows in Puerto Barrios. It was really special for us to re-visit the widows we met last year and to follow up with each one. We visited an assisted living facility and a school to discuss how we could partner with them. I held a Bible study and Jesse encouraged a group of children gathered together to play soccer. We blessed a boy with a gift sent "special delivery" from Minnesota. I learned how to make pan de coco (coconut bread) and walked prayer circles around the neighborhood. My heart beats and breaks for the people in that barrio.
But God is there. He is in Guatemala and he is ALIVE and ACTIVE. I'm thrilled to be called to be a part of what he is already doing. I know God has big plans to use Alegria Ministries as we distribute JOY in each neighborhood he calls us to!
